Aim and Objectives
of Panchakarma:
Panchakarma aims to remove the ailments of a diseased
person, maintain positive health in a healthy individual
and obtain extra ordinary Qualities like rasayana (rejuvenation
therapy) and Vajikarna.
Who needs Panchakarma?
Panchakarma is for everyone. It
has no limitations for age or sex but is individualised
for everyone based on their prakruti. For patients suffering
from various illnesses, procedures are carried out after
consultation of a Panchakarma specialist.
Why do we need Panchakarma?
The deposit of waste products
in the channels of body is very natural and normal physiological
phenomenon. Even a person who is devoid of abnormal
mental emotions and is nourished by a wholesome and
balanced diet, and is leading a pleasant life without
any considerable stress and strain may get the arteries
glued with morbid matters. This leads to swelling and
thickening of the muscular walls leading to the walls
becoming rigid and quite incapable of performing its
function of transportation of blood to meet the requirements
of organs. This leads to accumulation of vitiated doshas
in the excess producing diseases like obesity, diabetes,
various skin disorders, occlusion of various body channels,
atherosclerosis, derangement of the functions of the
sense organs, loss of intelligence, sleep and strength
etc.
The mode of onset of above morbid conditions is depicted
through an analogy of a water pot- If a very clean crystal
pot is filled with pure water and left, it is but natural
to have some sediments precipitated and inner coat formed
in the due course of time. Thus, to purify our body
and prevent and treat above morbid conditions, regular
panchakarma is recommended.
How
is Panchakarma different from other rejuvenation and
detoxification therapies?
People
think that by taking a few massage treatments with out
expert consultation, can provide detoxification and
rejuvenation. But this is an illusion.
Panchakarma is not just a massage, it is therapeutic
part of Ayurveda and the soul of Ayurveda treatments.
If properly planned, it can not only detoxify and rejuvenate
but is very effective to prevent and control various
degenerative, inflammatory and chronic illnesses that
occur in body with time.
Panchakarma is not just a therapy, it is a science of
touch and a combination of soul, mind, body and authentic
ayurvedic medicine. It is not a generalised science,
it is very individualised and has to be planned according
to prakruti, dosha imbalance, disease state of patient
and the seasons, with the help of an expert ayurvedic
physician.
